Participants still have to explain the work
Each participant works through defining, verifying, controlling and recovering on their own tasks: repository exercises on the engineering course, document packs on the business one. Then they must explain the result, the checks they ran and the decisions they made.
- The four foundation modules stay in order on both courses.
- Learners use prepared, realistic tasks and show executed checks.
- Feedback is based on the work produced during the task.
- Individual assistant conversations are not included in manager reports.
- Team reporting is aggregate only: individual results go to the learner.
The first cohort
Engineering managers asked us for training on checking AI-assisted changes before their teams shipped them.
The first cohort started in July 2026, after engineering peers had reviewed and tried the format.
The business course answers the same request from the other side of the organisation: the same operating rules, taught to the people who produce documents, analyses and communications with an assistant.
The AI-Assisted Engineering course is exceptionally well structured and refreshingly practical. Its focus on defining work clearly, independently verifying AI-generated code, controlling scope, and adapting when evidence challenges an approach addresses the realities of using AI in software development.

In the studies we cite, assistants helped with tightly defined tasks. The results on real repositories were less encouraging, and some developers took longer. Generating a change is only part of the job: someone still has to review it, correct it and decide whether it can be shipped.
Both courses assess the result, the checks that were run, the scope controlled and how the participant responded to contrary evidence.
That assessment is based on observed work during the sessions, not quizzes or self-reported confidence.
